Role Overview
The Senior Director, Assistant Controller serves as a cornerstone of TierPoint's financial operations, overseeing accounting and reporting functions to ensure timely, reliable financial reporting. This strategic leader establishes comprehensive controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk while enhancing the accuracy of reported financial results in full compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.
Key Responsibilities
- ▸ Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities including general ledger accounting, invoicing/billing, payroll accounting, and related areas
- ▸ Ensure financial information is accurately developed and reported to management with precision and timeliness
- ▸ Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, allocations, accruals, reconciliations, and financial reports
- ▸ Partner with various functional departments to support and enhance budget preparation and compliance initiatives
- ▸ Prepare financial statements and comprehensive management reports
- ▸ Lead process improvement initiatives and ensure procedure manuals remain current and effective
- ▸ Manage, motivate, and develop a talented team of financial and administrative professionals
- ▸ Oversee financial controls and coordinate financial statement audits with external partners
- ▸ Provide strategic financial analysis as needed to support executive decision-making
Required Qualifications
- ✓ Customer service focused with energy, professionalism, and welcoming characteristics
- ✓ Strong ability to work in a highly sensitive and confidential environment
- ✓ Proven ability to operate in a fast-moving, team-oriented, collaborative environment with tight deadlines
- ✓ Ability to identify issues and develop strategic and tactical plans for department initiatives
- ✓ Capability to research technical accounting literature and document appropriate methodologies
- ✓ Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- ✓ Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred Experience
- ★ Minimum of 7 years' experience in Finance/Accounting with at least 5 years managing a professional team
- ★ Experience with finance and accounting systems and software
- ★ CPA certification and public accounting experience strongly preferred
- ★ Previous controller experience
